What is the difference between WiredScore certification and SmartScore certification?
WiredScore certification recognizes and promotes best-in-class digitally connected buildings. This focuses on the quality and resilience of the digital connectivity in the building, and includes assessing criteria such as mobile and Wi-Fi connectivity, telecommunications, risers and more.
SmartScore certification recognizes and promotes technologically advanced smart buildings that deliver exceptional user experiences, drive cost efficiency, meet high standards of sustainability, and are fully future-ready. This includes smart building systems, cyber security, sustainability and more.
What are the benefits of a WiredScore or SmartScore certification?

What is the certification process?
- Choose whether you would like a WiredScore certification, SmartScore certification, or both. Find out more
- Get in touch with WiredScore directly or find an Accredited Professional from our directory.
- Depending on whether you’re submitting an occupied building or a new development, an audit will be carried out on your building(s) or the designs. You can find out what’s covered in our scorecards here.
- You will be given feedback on improvements you can make to ensure you achieve certification. If you are getting a SmartScore certification, our Accredited Solutions can help.
- Once the improvements have been made and checked, congratulations! You will be certified and can start promoting your building or development.
How long does it take to get a building certified?
This varies from building to building. To find out how long your building would take to certify, please get in touch.
How long does a certification last?
A certification on an occupied building will last two years and a certification on a development lasts for 18 months after the project is complete. After this, you will need to renew your certification. Find out more
Can a certification from WiredScore apply to existing and development buildings?
Yes! WiredScore certification for homes or SmartScore certification can be applied to both new and existing buildings. To certify an office space you are able to choose between WiredScore certification: Office (occupied) and WiredScore certification: Office (development). Find out more
Does my certification link with those from other providers?
In short, yes. WiredScore has aligned with WELL, U.S Green Building Council and the BCA. Plus, both WiredScore and SmartScore certifications are recognized by GRESB too.
How much will it cost to get my building certified?
It depends on the square footage of your building or development. To get an accurate cost, please contact us.
Is it mandatory to have an Accredited Professional to achieve certification?
This depends on where you are based. If you are outside of the UK&I, DACH, FR & BELUX and North America you must work with one of WiredScore’s Accredited Professionals to achieve certification. If you are in these regions, we still recommend you bring an AP onboard to benefit from their expert understanding of our scorecards and certification process. Find an AP

How long does it take to become an Accredited Professional?
Each Accredited Professional course includes six hours of online learning, plus a two hour online exam. You can access the training on demand, meaning it’s easy to fit around other responsibilities. Become an AP
