In today’s market, where efficiency, sustainability, and connectivity have transitioned from optional to essential, certifications like WiredScore and SmartScore elevate properties to a new standard of excellence. These certifications not only signify a deep commitment to sustainability and technological innovation but also enhance investor confidence.

Introduction to GRESB

GRESB is the global standard for portfolio-level ESG reporting in the real estate sector. It provides validated ESG performance data and peer benchmarks for investors and managers to improve business intelligence, industry engagement, and decision-making.

The  framework has a number of indicators ranging from Energy, Water, Health, and Well Being to Waste. The deadline to register your building or portfolio for WiredScore and SmartScore certifications is 31st December 2024.

How does it work?

  • One framework (i.e scorecard) that every asset owner self reports against. Data is entered at an asset level, but benchmarking happens, and points allocated, at a portfolio level.
  • Deadlines:
31st December 2024: Register your building or portfolio for WiredScore and SmartScore certifications
1st July 2025: Have completed your WiredScore and SmartScore certifications and submit your report to GRESB
  • Third-party validation and scoring
  • One benchmark used by investors

Who is it for?
Investment companies (BlackRock, Argon, etc…) use this data to evaluate the performance of their investment portfolios. A GRESB score will impact rates and conditions of an investment.
