WiredScore catches up with Luis Berardi, WiredScore’s new Building Technology Associate on what starting life at WiredScore is really like.

“Being part of a growing company is great, but being a part of the growth is even better.”

Hi Luis! Great to have you on board. Could you tell us a little about your role here at WiredScore?

LB–

I am a Building Technology Associate at WiredScore. I mainly interpret building surveys and write reports to assess and grade the digital infrastructure of the buildings. Then there’s the development reports – for these I grade the digital infrastructure of a building that is yet to be built. I do this by assessing architectural and engineering drawings, and mapping it against the SmartScore scorecard to grade a building’s smart systems.

How did you come to WiredScore? What’s your background like?

LB–

I come from a mechanical engineering background, and worked previously in inspections and certifications. Three months ago, I started as a Building Technology Associate at WiredScore. Given my background, I thought this transition would be easy and I love the way in which WiredScore differentiates itself: freedom, integration, and growth.

Ok then, spill the beans… What have your first few weeks at WiredScore been like?

LB–

My first two weeks consisted of learning. Not only things relevant to my role, but concepts behind telecommunications infrastructure, real estate operation and management, and of course the structure of WiredScore itself. I am still learning about all of this and more, but having this knowledge to apply to the projects in my role affords me freedom.

What’s one of your favorite things about working for WiredScore?

LB–

Just as The New York office itself has an open concept, WiredScore (as a company) is pretty open too, and it’s this open attitude that I enjoy most. There’s not been a time when I had a question or an idea that wasn’t listened to. The different teams within WiredScore work in conjunction with each other in a seamless way. A question or idea is never just moved from one team to the next, but through open channels of communication and a culture of collaboration.

WS–

Sounds like it’s so far so good… Anything else to add?

LB–

Even in my short time here, I have already seen WiredScore grow in significant ways. New ideas are workshopped top to bottom, with input and criticism easily expressed. I feel empowered to give my opinions. Being part of a growing company is great, but being a part of the growth is even better.
