Panattoni, SEGRO and Trammell Crow among launch clients in UK and Ireland

5 March 2025: WiredScore, the global leader in certification and education for technology in the built environment, has today announced its launch into the industrial sector.

There are eight clients across the UK and Ireland who are already undergoing certification, including Ergo Real Estate, Harleyford Capital, IPUT, Panattoni, Rohan Holdings, SEGRO, Trammell Crow and Wrenbridge, all of whom are committed to delivering best-in-class assets underpinned by exceptional technology.

The move follows a decade of success for WiredScore across the commercial office and residential sectors where it works with 1,000 clients across 1bn sq ft of certified space, globally, helping them to measure and improve the technological capabilities of their buildings.

Tom Vaughan-Fowler, Regional Director, UK, Ireland and Middle East, WiredScore said: “Our launch into industrial is a natural next step for WiredScore as we continue to shape the future of technology in the built environment. Owners and developers in the industrial space have much to think about: evolving occupier demands, pressure to keep up with the drive towards net zero, higher operating costs and the omnipresent potential for disruption thanks to AI.

“What these challenges all come back to is a pressing requirement for a robust, long-term strategy with technology at its heart. Becoming WiredScore certified is more than a tick in a box, it’s a commitment from owners to shift their mindset to be one centred on a tech-first approach.

“As such, we are really excited to be working with some of the most forward-thinking landlords and developers in the market, who recognise that by investing in technology they are setting themselves up for future success.”

WiredScore certification provides an impartial assessment of the technology foundations within an industrial building. Through this globally recognised standard, owners can:

  • Communicate how they are delivering resilient, flexible and future-ready buildings that suit the evolving requirements of occupiers
  • Continuously benchmark and improve building performance and operations, using data to shape decisions
  • Demonstrate to investors through improved reporting how the building will provide for occupiers over the long term and deliver long-term viability

Sean O’Connell, Senior Portfolio Manager, IPUT said: “At IPUT Real Estate Dublin we are constantly on the lookout for ways to harness technology to identify innovative solutions that improve our occupiers’ experience and optimise our buildings’ performance. WiredScore have been a key partner in supporting us in delivering on these objectives.”

Thomas Mallindine, Managing Director, Asset Management at Harleyford Capital commented: “As technology continues to shape the needs of modern occupiers, achieving WiredScore Certification enhances the appeal of our market-leading urban logistics developments. We are proud to be at the forefront of innovation within the sector, setting new standards for connectivity and efficiency.”

Stuart McCallion, Head of Technical Development UK, SEGRO said: “Partnering with WiredScore underscores our commitment to delivering industrial spaces that are resilient, future-ready and equipped with best-in-class technology. In an era where digital connectivity and operational efficiency are critical, WiredScore certification ensures we meet the evolving needs of our customers, while enhancing the long-term value of our developments.”

A spokesperson for Trammell Crow said: At Trammell Crow Company, we are excited to support the launch of WiredScore for Industrial and to adopt certification for our upcoming Heywood development in Greater Manchester, set to begin in May 2025. As occupiers increasingly demand enhanced power, secure infrastructure, and advanced data connectivity, the importance of automation systems and logistics technologies, including AI, cannot be overstated. These innovations are crucial for achieving optimal operating efficiencies and higher standards of technology and sustainability.”

Oliver Winchcombe, Head of Portfolio Management and ESG at Panattoni, commented: “We are really excited to be working with WiredScore on their launch into the industrial sector as it provides an excellent opportunity to highlight the digital connectivity and infrastructure resilience of our development. As we enter an era of tenants having a growing reliance on smart technologies, including automation, AI, and data-driven operations, ensuring our developments are at the cutting-edge of connectivity is a strategic priority. The WiredScore certification reinforces our leadership in the sector and commitment to delivering future-proofed logistics spaces that empower businesses with the digital capability they need to succeed.”

Robin Means, Associate Director, Wrenbridge, said: “Wrenbridge, in collaboration with Fiera Real Estate, chose Wiredscore for their mid-tech scheme on Mercers Row in Cambridge because of its commitment to ensuring buildings are equipped with the highest quality digital infrastructure, which is essential in today’s fast-paced, tech-driven world. The certification not only assures tenants and future occupants of reliable, high-speed connectivity but also positions the building as a leader in modern, sustainable, and efficient technology.”

WiredScore will be continuing its industrial expansion into other markets later on this year.
