It’s been quite the year at WiredScore and, as it comes to a close, I wanted to reflect on some of our team’s biggest achievements in 2018. This October, we celebrated our five year anniversary and announced a $9 million series A round of funding. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what we have to celebrate.

In the US, we deepened our partnerships with the leaders in connected real estate in our newest flagship markets: Atlanta, Chicago and Dallas. We’ve expanded our operations nationally across Canada and have certified office properties coast-to-coast from Vancouver to Halifax. In the UK, we celebrated launches in Birmingham and Glasgow. Our German team travelled across the country, certifying offices in Cologne, Frankfurt, and Hamburg while our colleagues in France launched Marseille as the second flagship market for Wired Certification outside of Paris.

Driven in part by these expansions, we’ve seen a more than 45% uptake in certified buildings from the beginning of 2018 and are proud to acknowledge more than 450 clients across 160 cities that have committed over 460 million sq. ft. of commercial space to the Wired Certification standards. This rate of adoption is truly remarkable and, according to this year’s U.S. Green Building Adoption Index from CBRE, Wired Certification adoption in our first four years of operations has outpaced LEED’s first four years. The report also found that Wired Certification is being adopted more quickly and widely than WELL and Fitwel.

None of this would have been possible without each and every team member that contributes to WiredScore’s mission of enabling the world to become a better, more connected place. We started 2018 with a headcount of 36 across our offices in New York, London, Paris, and Berlin and are going into 2019 as a team of 55 strong. We look forward to expanding the team even further next year. (Check out our open positions if you’re interested in getting in on the action!)

One of the key hires we made this year is, Peter Nocchiero, formerly Head of Product for Central at Industrious, to lead WiredScore’s Product team. He has already started building out his team to drive innovation within our product suite and expand the breadth and depth of our services so that we deliver maximum value to our clients.

This work will be supported by another new member of the WiredScore team, VTS/Hightower co-founder Brandon Weber, who has recently joined our Board of Directors. He brings an in-depth perspective into the challenges office owners and developers face as the industry adapts to the PropTech revolution. His guidance will be instrumental in evolving the way we serve landlords and he’ll help our product team innovate the solutions we offer to the CRE industry as a whole.

As we close out the year and reflect on all that we have accomplished as a team, I am only more motivated and excited to continue our momentum and see what 2019 will hold for WiredScore. The industry remains on the cusp of rapid innovation and I am eager to determine how we can continue to innovate and bring forward solutions that promote better connectivity for landlords and tenants alike.
