building access and activity management for telco;

WS–

What types of clients do you typically work with?

JU–

We work with leading REITs, property owners and other infrastructure owners at all tiers of commercial real estate across Australia. We also work with Australia’s tier 1 telco carriers and service providers that deploy the National Broadband Network (NBN Co).

WS–

What led you to join the WiredScore AP program for both new developments and occupied/existing buildings?

JU–

Our mission is to deliver high quality digital connectivity and telco advisory services to commercial property owners that are looking to maximise their assets’ performance while improving tenant experience.

Looking beyond the global pandemic, the future of work in Australia will see tenants try to entice their employees to come back into the office by offering great, social and collaborative spaces that offer better experiences than they can get at home. 84% of employees say that it is important for them to work in a technologically advanced office and 30% expect their office to have the latest cutting-edge technology in place.

Matching our mission to these trends made it clear to us that if we can give building owners a pathway to an internationally recognised certification like WiredScore, which assesses and supports outcomes in digital connectivity, we can offer more value to our existing and future clients.

WS–

From a digital connectivity perspective, what are some of the most exciting and innovative trends you’re seeing in the commercial real estate industry in Australia?

JU–

The most important trend today is the shift in commercial office requirements due to the COVID pandemic. The commercial real estate industry has responded with the rapid adoption of new technology to meet the demands of tenants as they come back into the office. We are most interested in: big data use cases and how the implementation of IoT and 5G will offer exponential growth in data available to building owners that are looking to improve their buildings environmental efficiency, safety and end to end tenant experience; distributed antenna systems (DAS) and the adoption of neutral host technology that allows for multiple carriers to serve tenants using the same system; innovative building design tied with contactless technology that make the access experience seamless and secure.

WS–

What do you see as the major opportunities for more innovation and a better tenant experience through connectivity across the Australian market?

JU–

There are many opportunities to get the basics right across telecommunications access control, design, and installation. That being said, we see major opportunities in four areas: 1) For cabling, the future is fiber and we encourage clients to look to fiber rather than copper to deliver future-ready infrastructure. 2) Adopting neutral host DAS systems that offer improved mobile coverage and carrier choice to tenants, who rank mobile coverage the second most important feature of a building they work in. 3) Landlord-owned intelligent building systems that inform smart building management strategies. 4) Mobile private networks that support ultra-secure network solutions.

WS–

When someone asks you what being a WiredScore AP means, what do you tell them?

JU–

Being a WiredScore AP means that we can support our clients with their digital connectivity challenges through the lens of a proven, global certification system that is trusted by the world’s biggest property owners. The WiredScore services we offer enable Australian building owners to compare their digital connectivity capability against the rest of the market, making it easy for owners to communicate their digital connectivity offering to their tenants.
